Golfclub Toxandria
Toxandria is the oldest golf course of Noord Brabant and is ranked among the top 10 best courses of the Netherlands. With a history of over 80 years Toxandria is considered one of the best classic courses of the Netherlands. Toxandria golf club is located in the woods near Breda. The course provides a good but fair golf challenge for the best players.
Toxandria was founded on July 5th 1928. The course was opened on September 14th 1929. At that time nine holes were available. Course architects were JF Morrison and H. Colt. In 1937 the course was extended to 18 holes.
In 1950 Toxandria hosted The Dutch Open, Roberto de Vicenzo from Argentina won the tournament. 17 years later he won the Britsh Open. Later, in 1965, The Dutch Open was played for a second time at Toxandria.
Since 1984 the Dutch Junior Open (River Woods Junior Open) is played at Toxandria. Many European Tour professionals have participated in this tournament.
